Umbrella Care
A London Undercover umbrella is not just for Christmas. It has been carefully designed and crafted to be yours for a long time, with a little loving care.
The following tips should maximise the life of your umbrella.
Step One
Avoid heavy winds
Our umbrellas are built to provide protection from both rain and wind. However, they are not intended to withstand strong gusts. To prevent damage, avoid using your umbrella in heavy winds, particularly in large open areas, by sea/river fronts and bridges. Wind damage is not covered by our warranty.
Step Two
Weather the storm but not your weight
Avoid leaning on your umbrella to prevent damage to the shaft. Additionally, refrain from using it as a walking stick, as repeated impact with the ground may collapse the frame over time.
Step Three
Leave open to dry
Always leave your umbrella open to dry to allow the fabric and materials to breathe. This will also prevent any potential rusting of metal parts.
Step Four
Keep it cool
Stay clear of radiators and hot places to prevent warping, especially during the summer months. Avoid leaving in the back of your car, or sitting in a window.
Step Five
Keep it clean
Clean only with plain water, as cleaning substances can remove proofing coatings.
Step Six
Avoid battle
If you own one of our Telescopic Umbrellas, always carry it by the body when closed, not the handle.
Swinging and Extending the shaft by throwing it open like a lightsaber can potentially separate the sections of the shaft.
